Project Manager
Project: influencing stakeholders on responsible tourism and destination stewardship

MEDASSET - The Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles - is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1988, working for the conservation of sea turtles and their habitats throughout the Mediterranean. It is involved in conservation and scientific research programmes, public awareness, environmental education, conservation initiatives and lobbying decision-makers.

MEDASSET is seeking a native Greek speaker to carry out the following tasks, at MEDASSET’s head office in Athens, Greece.

Responsibilities:
Managing and carrying out a short-term project regarding stakeholder engagement on responsible tourism and destination stewardship; tasks will include:
-           Communicating with foreign project partner and project funder.
-           Defining and managing the time plan of the project and its deliverables.
-           Managing and accounting for the available budget.
-           Organizing two workshop events at two locations in Greece (to be defined). This will include locating the venue, organizing logistics, identifying and inviting other speakers, identifying and inviting workshop participants and advertising the event. The events will take place in September 2011
-           Preparing and delivering presentations at the abovementioned events regarding the subjects detailed in point 1. Preparing press releases, any event material and announcements.
-           Delivering a project report.

Skills Required
Proven professional experience and/or higher-level training and education in the following areas:
1.         Sustainable/responsible tourism and destination stewardship. Environmental impacts of the tourism industry, tourism impacts on the marine and coastal environment, sustainable tourism best practices, benefits of destination stewardship, solutions to negative impacts and future opportunities.
2.         Project and budget management skills
3.         Experience in workshop/event/seminar organization.
4.         Native Greek speaker. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Greek. Strong public speaking and deliberation skills.
5.         Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Programmes, Internet, etc.). Further skills in software such as graphic design will be considered an asset.

Experience in working with environmental NGOs will be considered an asset.

Availability to travel within Greece is required.
