Thematic programme

Sustainable Engineering – with elaborations on the bio-case
The programme for International Week will centre on issues relating to the theme Sustainable Engineering. Tuesday we have arranged a whole day of workshops and seminars. The contributions will be linked by elaborations on the bio-case and we will discuss subjects such as vertical farming/precision farming, LED lighting, intelligent/flexible energy consumption, the role of sensors in eco-efficient engineering, bio-refining, and sustainable supply chain management.
We are looking forward to present some of our own research in this area and hope that you too will share your knowledge and views on sustainable engineering. You are also very welcome to give a seminar on the subject. Guest lectures will be scheduled as seminars either alongside the workshop Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
Please contact International Relations Coordinator Janne Valdgård Petersen regarding possible guest lectures on sustainable engineering.

Visit the Mads Clausen Institute Faculty of Engineering is located on different campuses and Thursday we invite you for a full day visit to the Mads Clausen Institute, which is situated in the beautiful building of Alsion in Sønderborg near the German border.

The overall focus of the Mads Clausen Institute is on product and business innovation within the field of mechatronics. Main research areas are nanotechnology, mathematical modelling, embedded software systems, innovation management and user-centred design. Among other things, the institute includes clean room facilities.

Social programme On the more social side of the programme the Faculty of Engineering will give you a brief introduction to Danish culture as part of the social activities Monday afternoon. During the week we would also like to invite you on a guided tour to one of the many scenic places on the island of Funen (Fyn) and for dinner at a restaurant in Odense, where you will have the opportunity to network and socialise in different surroundings.

International Week Programme

Academic and administrative staff

Teaching exchange
We, of course, welcome academic presentations and lectures if they are consistent with the faculty’s academic profile. This means that alongside the thematic programme you may have a teaching programme planned by you and your academic counterpart here at the faculty.

Please note that the teaching programme, which will be planned by you and your academic counterpart here at the faculty, may collide with part of the International Week programme, as we will have to schedule the teaching according to the students’ lessons.

Although we will do our best to arrange a teaching programme for you, we cannot promise to do so. This will depend on whether your field of expertise can be integrated into our teaching/project work.
Administrative staff Administrative staff is also very welcome for International Week and we would like to invite you for discussions and exchange of experiences and best practices in international issues such as how to integrate international students and introduction programmes for international students. A special workshop/learning group is scheduled for Tuesday 5 April as an alternative to the workshop on sustainable engineering.

International Week is also an excellent opportunity to present exchange possibilities at your home university to your international colleagues; academic as well as administrative.
