Senior Analyst Programmer – GIS Expert Ref: (JRC-2)

Based in Ispra / Milano –European Commission offices

Being the contractor of several framework contracts for the European Commission and many other EU institutions and organizations, we undergo actually through a massive international recruitment campaign in order to successfully deliver our projects.

Consequently, we wish to employ a Senior Analyst Programmer – GIS Expert, in order to successfully deliver his outstanding quality services in the European Commission’s premises in Ispra / Milano.

Your key responsibilities:

• Replication of the three nominated Pan-European geospatial; datasets across the three institutions sites;
• Building an OGC web map-service, which is based on the nominated geospatial datasets, which
Incorporates load balancing and fail-over techniques between the three institute sites;
• Production of the final report on the pilot-study, which includes details about necessary optimized
Workflows and procedures for synchronization of selected geospatial datasets between the institutions, as
well as details about the lessons learned from testing of the web map service;
• Demonstration of the value of geospatial content replication by building an OGC Web Map Service
With load balancing;
• Delivery of the Final report detailing the lessons learned from the replication prototype and optimized
Workflows, procedures, and best practices for synchronization of selected geospatial datasets between the
Institutions, as well as detailing the lessons learned from testing of the web map service.

Your skills:
• University or technical degree with minimum four years experience in IT;
• Experience of at least two years with Management of Large Spatial Databases including ESRI ArcSDE
v9.2, with both Oracle (9i & 10g) and MS SQL Server DBMS;
• Experience of at least two years with High Load map service customization and delivery (including OGC)
With ESRI ArcGisServer v9.2 and ESRI ArcIMS v9.2;
• Ability to communicate in English and/or in French.
